Changing LCD display to LED display?

I have a DM303 digital multimeter. It has a NJU9201BD A/D converter. I know that NJU9201BD is for LCD display, and NJU9202BD is for LED display but they are otherwise identical. I have my LCD display damaged and want to make it a LED display as I don't get spare LCD display. I want to make it by 7segment common anode LED displays. So, How can I do that? I know, just soldering right pins to right segment won't work. I tried to use a transistor to amplify the voltage, but in that case, the led display dims when it is opposed to be OFF. and not major luminance change occurs when it is opposed to be ON. I think I have successfully given details needed. If any further clarifications needed, just mail me. Thanks
