Scared of taking Lexapro for mild anxiety. Help?

Had some stressful events since November, dealing with off an on anxiety...Doc told me to take a half of Lexapro...and Im scared shitless of antidepressants. He said I dont have to take it..but its an option. Has anyone ever used this drug? I dont want to become addicted or feel spacey.
