Will my apartments clean my carpets?

The maintenance people always wear their big dirty boots inside, as well as other guests who don't like to take their shoes off. My carpets in my apartment look a bit dingy and I'd like to have them cleaned. Will they do it for me, or do they only clean carpets upon move-out? I don't want to pay to rent a carpet cleaner, or call a carpet cleaning company if I can avoid it.
